A picky eater with lots of allergies and her husband review 5 Acres.
5A Burger
A Good Read
We visited NYC on May 4th, which also happens to be our anniversary. We’ve been married quite a while and at some point decided to forgo gifts and simply go out to a nice dinner. Because the alumni event was the same day, we decided our meal at 5 Acres would count as our anniversary celebration. Dan ordered the 5A Burger and when I read the list of toppings, I couldn’t help but sing them out loud to an old McDonald’s ad – all beef patty, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. Don’t tell me you didn’t just sing that in your head 😃 Anyway, Dan picked up his burger and noted it felt nice – not crusty, but firm. It didn’t feel or taste like your typical hamburg bun (brioche perhaps?), but it was tasty nonetheless. The patty itself was quite good. Not overly huge, so he could eat with ease and not wear it instead. The side of shoestring fries were just okay. Shoestring fries are tricky because they get cold too quickly, so if you’re not quick to gobble them up you’ll miss out on potential french fry goodness. Dan washed it all down with a small $5.00 can of soda (no refills) so he sipped slowly.
