A picky eater’s friends gives an Artisanal Burger Company Review
Lois’ Dish
ABC Burger Salad
Playing It Safe
Lois is one of the few people in my life who understand food allergies. She developed a gluten allergy and must stay away from bread and other wheat laden foods. I am so thankful I don’t have this on my allergy list – I don’t think there’d be much left for me to eat! Despite her gluten allergy, Lois manages to find tasty dishes whenever she goes out. At the Artisanal Burger Company, she ordered the ABC Salad topped with a burger patty. She cut the patty into small pieces and mixed it into her salad of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and cheese. Filling and delicious, Lois remarked that there was just enough pickle to make the meal feel like an honest to goodness hamburger. She noted that the side of Thousand Island dressing is reminiscent of the special sauce on a Big Mac. I neither deny nor confirm this because I have never had special sauce nor have I tried a Big Mac. Can one get a Big Mac with nothing on it?
Ebony’s Dish
Jambalaya
Dangerous Stunts
During our dinner, I had the pleasure of meeting Ebony, the young woman staying with Lois. She was feeling a little spicy and ordered the Jambalaya. While she ate, she was surprised by the amount of rice and how hot it was. Not spicy hot, but right out of the oven hot. Shredded chicken, sausage, and shrimp filled the bowl much to Ebony’s delight. She prefers her jambalaya mild with just a little punch and this dish delivered. Ebony quickly gobbled it down and then the real heat hit. She gulped down her water and I pushed what was left of my french fries over to her to help extinguish the fire in her mouth. She survived, but I’m not sure she’ll be ordering the Jambalaya again.
