The Hamburger
Best Burger Ever!
Ok. So, when I set out to do this blog, I anticipated writing about hamburgers that I didn’t really like because, honestly, I don’t really like hamburgers. I don’t really like food in general, I guess. I prefer things bland. Seriously. The less flavor the better. I’m aware this is odd, but I believe it’s because of the bad food experiences (i.e. allergic reactions) I’ve had in the past. In short, I hope to live another day, so keep the spice away!
But then I was served this perfect patty between two pillowy buns…yum!
The 1/2 Pound Hostess Burger
Lynn snatched the pickle which was perfectly fine with me because Eww…pickle! The 1/2 Pound Hostess Burger had the option of adding three toppings, but why ruin ground beef with an abundance of potentially conflicting flavors? So mine arrived naked, as always, waiting for me to add a touch of ketchup. Unfortunately, I didn’t anticipate the strength of my hungry hands as I squeezed the bottle and ended up dousing my burger. As the bun was unfettered by pesky seeds, my teeth sank right through the soft, white flakeless bun into the juicy meat. Usually, medium well beef tends to be on the hard side, but this burger wasn’t. Surprised, I inspected it carefully for any remnants of life – any signs of red liquid (aka dead cow blood in my mind) are a complete turn off. But this burger was the perfect shade of light gray. On the side was a generous pile of kettle chips which I assume were made in house. Slightly burnt, but very tasty and no soft spots as often occurs in homemade chips. And just a touch of salt made them perfect. An impeccable burger to satisfy an empty stomach. I really hope we can stop at The Fishin’ Pig the next time we drive through Virginia. And hopefully the next time we’ll be on a pleasure trip and not on an uncomfortable journey leaving our daughter hundreds of miles from home.
