Black Bean & Sweet Potato Burger
Get Educated
I first met Phyllis at school when she was teaching and I was subbing. Acting as her substitute teacher many times throughout the years, I must admit her class was always one of my favorites. I mean, if you’re going to incorporate morning and afternoon stretching time into your school day then that is a perfect day for me. Retired now, Phyllis continues to be a wealth of information and a great resource for gluten free and vegetarian lifestyles. Luckily for me, with my exhausting list of food allergies, I don’t fall into either of those categories, but I do find them very interesting. Since Fork & Fire caters to folks with food limitations, Phyllis easily found something worth trying – the Black Bean and Sweet Potato Burger, both gluten free and vegetarian.
Get Healthy
I know nothing about veggie burgers, but apparently they tend to break apart into little chunks. However, this veggie burger was different. Hot and spicy and not falling apart. The burger was topped with arugula, pickled red onions, avocado, and vegan chipotle sauce. It received lots of nods and yums from Phyllis. The gluten free toasted bun was especially tasty which was a pleasant surprise. The burger came with a huge side salad which was not skimpy on ingredients at all. Phyllis’ only complaint involved the salad dressing – there was simply too much, but she forgot to ask for it on the side so all is forgiven. It’s hard to find a good restaurant when you have special dietary needs, but I’m pretty sure Phyllis will be headed back to Fork & Fire soon.
