Birthday Basics

Dan’s birthday is in the beginning of June and every year he declares it a holiday. If his birthday lands on a weekday, he takes the day off and if it lands on a weekend he takes the Monday. Dan’s birthday holiday always includes a day of binge watching whatever sci-fi show is popular and a family party at the house with dinner, gifts, and cake. And it always, always, includes a special dinner, for just Dan himself, of lobster. This year, Dan decided instead of cooking the lobster at home, we would try a popular seafood restaurant that he’s been eyeing for several years. He checked the menu for safe options for me and low and behold, a hamburger was on the menu, so off we went.

Mainly Maine

The Maine Fish Market is surprisingly not in Maine. Situated on a busy route in East Windsor, Connecticut, they tout local fresh seafood, however, they are at least an hour from the shoreline so I’m not sure if they drive there daily or have their delicacies driven in from Maine daily. It doesn’t really matter, though. Dan was on a quest for seafood and that’s what they’re known for.

Please Be Seated

The restaurant is huge with one side featuring a horseshoe shaped bar with a fish tank on the wall. The other side, with vaulted ceilings and marine themed paintings, was what I thought was the lone dining room. About a dozen booths lined the walls and a row of tables marched down  the center. When we left, we needed to walk through another rather large dining room to exit to the back parking lot, so clearly there was plenty of seating for all.  We were told the wait for a table would be about twenty five minutes, but no worries! There was a little nook with seating for at least fifteen to work up an appetite while waiting for their table.
