A picky eater with lots of allergies reviews a plain burger at the South End Market.
Cheeseburger Deluxe

One-Armed Bandit

Usually, when I am faced with eating at a food court, I choose pizza because pizza is usually safe. But on this day, I had committed to a Burger Adventure and I here I was at the South End Market. I knew it was going to be awful, but I went ahead and ordered the Cheeseburger Deluxe from Bill’s Diner. Of course I asked for no toppings, but I was excited about the onion rings. However, my burger was suddenly downgraded and they offered me fries instead. I consented and they rang me up at half price. My burger was looking better already. I found a booth and waited for Dan to sit with me before taking my first bite. I started with the fries. Barely salted and bland. Just how I like them. I continued munching the fries while eyeing my burger suspiciously. It looked awful. Regardless, with the fries now gone, I took a deep breath and a small bite. The burger was good! Really good! Despite the fact that the server never even asked me how I wanted it prepared, it was perfect! A medium-well patty on a fluffy, soft bun. Not too thick. Not hard at all. I couldn’t believe it. The burger never left my hand and before I knew it, it disappeared like a five dollar bill at a slot machine. Maybe I should dine at a food court more often! I considered Dan’s rating system when deciding how many stars this tasty burger deserved. After waging my options, I landed on four stars. Why? Because although I really like my food bland, the fries really needed some ketchup and there was none to be found.
