These Morsels Are Not Kisses

I was so hopeful that since we were in Hershey, PA any food I ordered would be very child friendly. I mean this is the Land of Chocolate where children frolic and their parents let them eat too much candy. Despite the mod-decor and fancy menu, I wasn’t expecting my dialed-down burger to be so upscale. I ordered the Traditional Burger without all the traditional stuff. Medium well and ketchup only. It arrived on a gorgeous brioche bun slathered in what I imagine was a full stick of butter. I complained to Dan who explained that brioche buns are meant to be extremely buttery. And then I chomped down on the thick patty. I cannot express my surprise and disgust adequately enough here. Inside the burger were things. I don’t really know what the things were, but they were like hard globules of fat. Dan says that’s the best part of a burger, that I should think of them as tasty morsels of goodness. I say no. I spit out the remnants in my mouth, added more ketchup, and proceeded to take smaller bites hoping to avoid more of these fat deposits. Luckily, I had a side of fries which I used as an intermezzo between burger bites. The homemade fries were hot and salty with just a bit of skin left on. I don’t normally care for salt (because nighttime charley horses), but it definitely helped me choke down the rest of my dinner. I was so thankful I had a bag of Hershey kisses to cleanse my mouth of all those burger bits.
