Clam Chowda
A Good First
Andrea’s clam chowder arrived first. She took her first spoonful and her eyes lit up. It was garnished with chives and it was delicious. And it was hot. She took time to blow on the next bite. She proclaimed the dish was extremely fresh and then proceeded to gobble it right up.
Quesadilla
A Bad Second
And then the main dishes were served and the flies descended. Okay…that maybe sounds worse than it actually was, but both of us had trouble eating our meals. It might have been because we were so busy waving our hands around to discourage the flies from landing or it might have just been the food. Andrea’s quesadilla was cut into four isosceles triangles. She bit into one and hesitated before answering the question, “How is it?” After she managed to gulp down that first bite, she decided it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. The skinny pocket filled with chicken, cheese, peppers, and onions tasted as greasy as it looked. She took another bite and wrinkled her nose. The quesadilla had no flavor which made me think of my experience at the Rocking Horse Smoke House. She was thankful for the chowder and only ate the one triangle. She did take the rest home thinking she might try to doctor it up for lunch the following day, however she texted me later when she realized she had much better food options in her kitchen and she didn’t see a need to keep the tasteless quesadilla.
