A picky eater with lots of allergies and her foodie husband give review of The Jameson Tavern
Dan’s Dish
Lobster Cocktail & 14 oz New York Strip
Lazy Lobster
Dan’s Lobster Cocktail appetizer arrived fairly quickly along with two plates and two forks. Of course, one serving set would go unused because lobster will kill me. I believe Dan chooses his appetizers with me in mind. I am not one who likes to share and he often chooses meals that he can’t share with me because my allergies deem it unsafe. The little lobster with little claws (Dan insists this is the wrong terminology, but I think it’s cute, so I’m sticking with it!) was chilled with warm butter for dipping. The market price of $25 seemed steep for this little guy, but Dan was happy because there were no shells to crack.
Work for Your Greens
Next, Dan grabbed a knife and tackled his salad. Why a knife? Well, the cucumbers were cut lengthwise instead of sliced. And the dandelion leafs (or field greens as Dan corrected me) were excessively broad. So, Dan went to work slicing and dicing and grazing. He did note that while he had to work for his veggies, the presentation was very nice.
Stress-Free Steak
Dan’s medium rare strip steak was cooked perfectly. Very tender, not heavily spiced, although Dan added salt. The man adds salt to EVERYTHING! The baby gold potatoes were not seasoned at all. But Dan quickly solved that by adding butter, pepper, and, of course, salt.
