A picky eater with lots of allergies and an author visit The Little Pub.

The Little Pub
Friday, 1:00pm
Ritzy
There is a large town in the little state of Connecticut called Greenwich. It shares a border with New York and is known for its extreme wealth. Many of the rich and famous have homes here, so I was a little tentative when author Barbara Ehrentreu invited me to join her for lunch in this upscale neighborhood. My first thought was is my Honda CRV worthy of driving Greenwich streets and my second thought was this is going to cost me a fortune. Despite my reluctance, I agreed to the Burger Adventure and got Dan to drive me across the state in his Subaru hoping we wouldn’t get stopped at the border for not driving a Mercedes.
Unpretentious

Barbara chose The Little Pub for our lunch date. The name definitely suits the establishment. Located on a busy road in the north section of Greenwich, The Little Pub is tiny, but somehow fits a bar and dining room inside. It’s almost like the TARDIS – bigger on the inside. With very limited parking, Dan dropped me off at the church next door and treated himself to a hearty fish and chips at a beach side restaurant the next town over. I entered The Little Pub and took in all the decor. Tapestries, horses, shields, sconces shaped like torches on the walls. Despite the medieval theme, fairy lights sparkled from the wood beamed ceiling adding a touch of class and fancy-free to the dark interior. When Barbara arrived, she greeted me with a friendly hug and a huge smile. I suddenly didn’t feel so out of place. Maybe I could drive my Honda on those streets after all.
Humble
We chose a table outside and Barbara told me all about her writing and publishing experience. While maintaining a blog featuring original poetry and interviews with fellow authors, Barbara’s young adult books feature real life situations. Her latest book, If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor, follows Carolyn in the first weeks of her first year of high school. She longs to be pretty. To be thin. To be just like Jennifer Taylor. That is until a math assignment pits them as partners and Carolyn discovers that Jennifer has a secret and hopes to help her without losing her true friends or herself in the process. After discussing her latest work, Barbara also recommended some of her latest reads such as The Names by Florence Knapp and A Gentleman in Moscow by that she thought I might enjoy. Shortly after our lunch date, I checked those books out of the library and she was right…I did enjoy them!
