Let me tell you all about the Picky Eater and this Burger Blog. To start, it features me, Lis Blanchard, a super picky eater with a ridiculous amount of allergies.
I hate hamburgers, but it is often the safest item on the menu for me. I eat them plain…just a burger and a bun. Medium well. Just a drop of ketchup. No cheese, No tomato. No lettuce.
What do you do when the whole family wants Chinese food or seafood and you won’t eat it? Well, you hope there’s a hamburger on the menu. It’s really my only option. My list of allergies is long and severe, but I was lucky enough to marry a man who understands. When Dan finds a restaurant he’d like to try, the first thing he does is check the menu for a plain hamburger since that’s usually the only option for me. While restaurant hamburgers never come plain, I always request no toppings and often get confused stares. I’m allergic to raw tomato, lactose intolerant, and actually don’t like bacon. It’s a problem, but it’s the safest solution I’ve found. Dan and I have been dining at restaurants for nearly thrity years now. He always gets something fancy and I always get a burger. And for nearly thirty years, we’ve been laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. Thus, The Picky Eater Burger Blog was born.
