Castle on the Hill
Every once in a while, I post an invitation to my personal Facebook page offering to take a friend to lunch. And once in a while, someone accepts. However, this month everyone was busy. So, I was desperate for a Burger Adventure and thankful my mom answered the call. One of Mom’s favorite places to dine is the Hilltop Restaurant in Willington, Connecticut. Just off the highway, a series of backroads twisted through the trees which suddenly opened up and circled around the restaurant almost as if the road were a moat. Hilltop sits on a small hill overlooking nothing but trees. However, Mom says it’s beautiful in the summer when you can sit outside amongst colorful fragrant flowers. This actually sounds horrible to me. For a variety of reasons, but you can check my Allergy Page to understand why.
Great Hall
Hilltop was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday afternoon, but it was also the first warm day we’ve had in months, so I suppose most people were spending the day outside. We followed the hostess into a large room with high-back booths along the walls and drop-leaf tables in the center. The soft gray walls with muted pastel prints gave the room a calm, moody vibe. The two of us alone with a nice peaceful atmosphere and the server’s full attention made us feel like royalty.
