A picky eater with lots of allergies reviews a plain burger at Newicks Lobster House
Cap’n Burger
Cowhide
If you are reading this blog for the first time, it is important to know that burgers are not my favorite food. I have a ton of food allergies and seafood is near the top of the list. However, Dan loves seafood and a burger is likely to be on the menu for people like me. Despite my dislike for burgers, it is true that on occasion, a rare occasion, I actually find the burger to be quite tasty. Unfortunately, this was not one of those times. With two patties, I expected that I’d need to unhinge my jaw to take a bite. This was not the case. The patties were so thin, they could have passed for one. Also, had I been asked, I would have requested the patties to be prepared medium well. But the waitress failed to ask and these burgers were not medium well. They were done. And I when I say done, I mean really done. Like shoe leather stuffed between two of the biggest, stalest buns I have ever tasted. In spite of that, the homemade chips were tasty enough to warrant one star for the Cap’n burger at Newicks Lobster House. Warm and crisp, not greasy, and lightly salted. The chips were the only thing I ate after that first unfortunate bite of burger. But I guess that’s what I get for ordering a burger at a seafood place.
