A picky eater with lots of allergies reviews a plain burger at Texas Steakhouse & Saloon
Steakhouse Burger

It is a well known fact that I do not enjoy hamburgers. However, I will and have tolerated them when necessary. As we were dining at the Texas Steakhouse, it was necessary. I ordered the Steakhouse Burger and had high hopes. After all, Texas is famous for its meats and sauces, but this isn’t Texas. This is North Carolina and while they may be famous for their own style of barbeque, this burger wouldn’t have even qualified for a backyard contest. But before we delve into the burger disaster, let’s discuss the fries. My “spicy” fries were actually store bought frozen crinkle fries without an ounce of seasoning. And while I don’t typically care for spice, I happen to love the store bought frozen curly fries that have a hint of zest. The fries on my plate were neither zesty nor salty. Plus, they weren’t very hot. I couldn’t eat them. And if I thought the fries weren’t great, well that was nothing compared to the burger. I like my patty medium well and this one was beyond dead. The toasted bun, well it was just as hard. It was like a slab of concrete between two boulders. It was not palatable and I was truly afraid of breaking a tooth. Unlike my husband, Dan, if I’m starving, which I was, I still need my food to taste good. And the saddest part is I don’t even like flavor, but this burger…this burger was just bad. Thank goodness the hotel had a very nice sundry shop where I happily loaded up on chips and candy.
