Unexpected Twist
We talked in whispers as our eyes darted around the dimly lit restaurant wondering if it was safe to be there. Luckily, it took no time for our food to arrive. And when it did, our eyes lit up with excitement. This hole-in-the-wall dive held a secret – upscale dining at a very affordable price. Dan’s dish, served on a 14-inch charcuterie board, overflowed with steamy goodness. The stuffed clam topped with bacon seemed homemade and provided a spicy kick. Along with the clam came a huge portion of cod. Moist, thick, and definitely not from the freezer. A thin coat of breading covered the perfectly cooked fish. Everything was very hot and exceptionally good. Dan devoured the whole thing – even the fries! If Dan believed in awarding five stars, this dish would have gotten them all. But he doesn’t, so it’s a 4.5 on my star scale.
