A picky eater with lots of allergies reviews a plain burger at Ray’s Seafood Shack.
Hamburger

Bent

Since seafood will kill me, I chose the hamburger. Of course, I did. This is a burger blog after all. On the big board, the hamburger was a mere $11.99. Fries included! What a deal! I like to eat the fries first, mostly because burgers make me nervous. The fries were very hot, and very over done. I would say they were as hard as a lobster shell. I struggled to eat them. Dan thought they were homemade, but I’m not sure. I gave up on the fries and surveyed the burger. The brioche bun was so buttered it was actually yellow. Like neon yellow.Although nicely toasted, it was cold. I was very disappointed. The burger itself was not bad. But also not good. It had no taste. I mean, I know I don’t like burgers, but I should taste something. The texture of each bite tasted like the bun…all bread and no beef. I swear there was a burger between those buttery halves, and a decent sized one as well, but I honestly couldn’t taste it. Dan reached in for a bite because my burger opinions are never quite right, and he agreed. And for Dan to agree with me is substantial. It was true, in fact, that the meat had zero flavor. And that wasn’t even the worst part! My $11.99 Rolls of the Land meal deal rang up as $12.99! Now I know that an extra dollar isn’t really a big deal, but when I mentioned it to the cashier she shrugged and said it must be a typo. And then she walked away. A typo?! Where?! On the menu board or on my receipt? In the end it didn’t matter because I didn’t get my dollar back and I was still hungry.
