Hunt Hard, Hunt Smart
I met Sarah Blanchard in a Facebook author group and we immediately knew we had to meet. Perhaps there was a connection with the last name? We may never know. Perhaps it was the holiday season? That definitely had a part in it. Or perhaps she had a lot of knowledge about publishing and the world in general and I was eager to learn.
Running with the Big Dogs

In my quest to publish my first novel in the very near future, I hounded Sarah with questions and she shared her writing journey with me within the warm and inviting room at The Hare and the Hound restaurant in Putnam, Connecticut. I’d only been to this quiet, picturesque town once before to visit the Boxcar Children Museum and that was a very long time ago. Although situated in what the locals call the “Quiet Corner” of the state, a place where absolutely nothing happens much like the abandoned town in Sarah’s latest novel, Grabtown, Putnam has created quite a bustling downtown scene with quaint boutiques and upscale restaurants including The Hare and The Hound. Despite its newness, The Hare and The Hound has already developed a Cheers-like atmosphere with older men walking in out of the cold and taking their regular seat around the bar. We sat at a booth with a dark wood table and my eyes wandered the golden walls with green neon lights decorated with Irish placards and Santas, I immediately felt at home. After all, I do consider the UK my home away from home.
