A picky eater with lots of allergies reviews a plain burger at The Hare and The Hound
Big Picture Burger

Kibble and Chow
I perused the menu and was immediately confused. I knew I wouldn’t be getting a Loaded Burger, Pickle Bacon Burger, or Breakfast Burger, but it didn’t matter. All the burgers were the same: smash patties. Not understanding this, the kind waitress explained that a smash patty was simply a meatball flattened thin on the griddle. I could have it pink or no pink. I swallowed. Hard. This was new and different for me. I was far from home and anxious that this take on a burger might make me sick, but I was on a Burger Adventure so I ordered the Big Picture Burger – no pink. Nervous to attempt the burger, I attempted the fries first. Mushy, but tasty and very hot. I ate them all, then eyed the burger. I explained to Sarah that I have a lot of food allergies before I tentatively lifted the burger from my plate and took a small bite. It was chewy, but not bad. In fact, it had a nice flavor that I felt confident wouldn’t make me sick. Not spicy or grassy, but buttery and smooth. The bun was incredible. Toasted on the side that meets the burger and soft on the top. Hence, my lunch was quite nice – the meal and the company.
