Take Two

Not even two hours after our lunch at Ray’s Seafood Shack, Dan and I checked into the only hotel in the area with availability. We were visiting New Hampshire to cheer on my best friend’s daughter as she transformed into Paulette Bonafonté, manicurist and loyal friend to Elle, in Legally Blonde. The weekend of the play was also the weekend of graduation for most area colleges. Luckily, Dan was able to secure a reservation a couple months prior, but not without spending hours searching. I am known to family and friends as being somewhat of a hotel snob. To prove my point, I settled for a Best Western. And I’m so glad I did! Since my burger experience at Ray’s did not go so well, I was starving. As luck would have it, the Roundabout Diner was annexed to the hotel, an indoor hallway connecting the two. A classic diner with brightly painted walls, red vinyl booths, a black and white checkered floor, and a huge display of homemade desserts. That’s what we were there for. That was the plan – a sweet little nosh before the play. But I hadn’t really eaten my earlier burger, so I went ahead and ordered another. I figured it couldn’t possibly be as bad as my previous one.
