A picky eater with lots of allergies reviews a plain burger at The Traveler Restaurant.

Rare Read
When I order a burger medium well, I expect it to be dead. I expect it to not be juicy, not be soft, not be be good. And that’s okay. I don’t like burgers. However, medium well should be medium well and this burger definitely was not. My first bite tasted like grass. It wasn’t awful, but I pictured cute little cows munching on grass as I went in for my second bite. And that’s where it ended. The middle was as red as the ketchup I applied to the top. Surprisingly, zero juice emerged from this burger which would have been a huge tip off that it was rare. I placed the burger back on the plate and tried a fry. For someone that prefers bland, the fry was beyond bland. I had to actually add salt and I hate salt. So, I decided to just eat the bun. With ketchup from the burger soaked in, it was soft and satisfying.
Rare Finds
Hungry, but happy, I then followed Lois around the restaurant, leaning over tables, looking at titles, reading back of book blurbs, searching for the perfect book to accompany me home. But not just one book, three! We spent at least another hour and a half roaming through stacks of books, rearranging piles, and discovering unique and rare titles in their basement storage area before we settled on our new used books to enjoy in the weeks to come.
